History Of TSS In Ghana

In the early 1950s , Emmanuel Kwesi Essel was a Police Officer and a native of the Gold Coast of West Africa. Through an acquaintance, he came into possession of one of The TSS Lessons. Being favorably impressed with that piece of Theological Science literature, Emmanuel contacted the Headquarters in the USA.

Solely because of this young man's effort and ability, the headquarters in the USA began to receive more applications for Fellowship. By 1955, the Headquarters in the USA were sending literature to 350 West Africans of Gold Coast. All these Lessons were packed in bundles addressed to Mr Essel, who distributed them to Members who were meeting regularly in a rented hall.

In 1955, Mr Essel was invited to visit Dr Carruthers in Miami ,Florida in the USA. To honor this invitation, Mr. Essel left Saltpond by ship bound for the United States. While in the US, Mr Essel spent precious time in the company of his esteemed Guru receiving special instructions at His feet. Mr Essel was eager and grateful for instructions regarding the the establishment and operation of the Gold Coast Branch of TSS.

On 6th March, 1957 the Great Britain granted the Gold Coast independence under its new name, Ghana. The first three Leaders of the country were all Theological Scientists, but were all unfortunately overthrown.

Undaunted, Mr Essel continued to expand the Membership to 5,000 in less than seven years, and established branches headed by Sovereigns who reported directly to him.

Emmanuel Kwesi Essel served the Society admirably. He was dearly loved and respected by his Fellow Theological Scientists. He responded to Infinite Summons in February 1993. His Personal Secretary Mr Afriyie Addo took over the affairs of the Society until March 1994, when Mr. M.J Kwansah was elected and installed in September 1994, to succeed Mr Essel as 2nd Director of TSS in Ghana, until his demise in 2019 .

Mr N. Kotey was also elected and installed in September, 2019 as the 3rd Director of TSS in Ghana.
