february 2010

My Dear Friend and Fellow Member,

February is generally associated with the Heart due to the celebration of Valentine’s Day. I think of the relationship you and I have as based on mutual brotherly love. That is the connection I feel through the wonderful communication received from you each month. So, let’s think of this month’s correspondence as a love letter as we come together for our monthly visit and chat about this and that.

A couple weeks ago I received an email from one of our members containing their daily Prayer for 2010, I asked and received permission to share it with you. It is filled with loving thoughts written from the heart of a Truth student.

I AM in tune. I AM Aware that I AM a Spiritual Being having a physical experience.. and I AM a creator. I AM CONSCIOUSLY creating Peace of Mind for all those on my mind tonight. I AM AWARE that Spirit is all there is and it is the SAME spirit in each of us. What I would want for myself, I claim for those on my mind tonight. I UNDERSTAND totally that God is a loving, peaceful, joyful, extremely healthy, lavishly prosperous God, HAPPY, HEALTHY WHOLE AND WELL IN ALL OUR WAYS ALWAYS. I join my thoughts with those spreading throughout Silent Unity, Unity of North Idaho, The Theological Science, and World Ministry of Prayers as we affirm 2009 has gone out like a lamb and 2010 is entering as a lamb of Spirit. We are all well taken care of in all our ways. God is our loving Shepherd! God is our Loving Father, Mother, Sister, Brother. I AM AWARE that HE is cradling His World lovingly in HIS arms, gently healing our fears and showing us that He loves us as a loving parent. WE are cradled in his arms. Our earth, world is wrapped in the soft and warm protective blanket He cradles in His arms. He gently heals us, lovingly prospers us, Smiles when we feel His joy and love. He cradles us all in His loving Arms safe from the things we’ve created in our minds that we fear. We let Go and Let God do what God does! God Loves! Heals! Prospers! Protects! Brings Joy!

Thank You Father that you hear me always in all my ways Always?AMEN. So it is! It is done! It has been “set in motion”?There is no more to be done except to be Conscious, Aware, Knowledgeable, Understand we are ONE WITH HIM?As a baby’s toes are lovingly tucked under the blanket of protection, none are left out. We are one! AMEN.

I felt wrapped and included in that love as I do with all the correspondence received from our members. Love will literally heal and transform our lives, and that is the basis of this month’s letter.

The ancient Greeks understood the complexities of Love. They believed that one word could not adequately describe such a powerful and all encompassing force so they divided love into four categories:

The first being Eros, which is the base vibration of love found in romance or eroticism; The second description of love was referred to as Storge, which is the vibration of familial love such as a parent feels for a child, or siblings for one another; The third description for love is Phillia, which is the vibration known as brotherly love, such as we feel for other human beings beyond our immediate family when there is a sense of connection; The fourth and highest vibration of love is Agape, which has been defined as the unconditional love of the Divine because it is always giving Itself to Its creation, moving through us (and all creation) as life itself and never asking anything in return. In other words Agape love is absolutely ndiscriminate and unconditional. We do not have to do anything to earn love because the gift has already been given.

We are love. There is therefore, love to be released and expressed in all of us. It is natural to express it and to share it. Like most things in life it is by giving our love to others that we receive love. Often however, we tend to discriminate and share our love conditionally. There is a saying: you can't out give God. God is Love. And we can't out give love either. We can never empty ourselves of love - for as much as we give out that much more do we receive. As we share our love and ultimately ourselves we increase the flow of love in our hearts.

February, generally a gray and drab month in the northern hemisphere is a good time to express love to everyone. I heard on the radio this past week that 49 of our 50 states had snow on the ground, a rather unusual occurrence in some of those states. We need some love and warmth around here and everywhere these days.

The simplest way to share our love is to see others through the eyes of love. Love becomes the filter through which we view the world. I am reminded of the phrase used in the hit movie Avatar. It is: I see you. I See You. It is seeing into the heart and soul of another - really Seeing who they are – – not just the form they are wearing.

February is a grand opportunity to broaden our understanding of love and its power. Let’s put this dynamic power back into our lives in very conscious ways. First by seeing through eyes of love and looking deeply at each other, looking beyond the appearance and see the depth of one another. In this way we are connecting with their spirit and becoming aware of our oneness with each other and the planet. Secondly, by recognizing the power of a love consciousness in our daily meditation and prayer practice.

The most effect was to pray is not praying to God, but praying from the consciousness of God. A consciousness of love. The consciousness that knows it cannot fail. The consciousness that knows it already exists and is simply being revealed in the physical realm. The point is that the attitude, the thoughts, beliefs and the consciousness from which we are doing our prayer and meditation work is the filter through which our manifestation is created and determines the quality of the conditions in our life.

Let’s assume the purpose of our prayer is a job; perfect employment for you. A work you love with the pay you deserve. If you begin your work with the mind set (consciousness) that such a job exists, and are filled with feelings of love and gratitude, wanting to serve plus feelings of love for yourself and others - you will demonstrate such employment. If you are angry about needing to find another job, or filled often with doubts and self loathing, whatever you demonstrate will be tainted with attitudes of anger and distrust. In other words your answered prayer will reflect the attitude and consciousness which you held around the idea in Mind.

When you know how to use the power of love, you can send it to heal and transform even the most difficult situations. The Power of Love can heal and restore relationships, including the most important relationship we have, our relationship with our self , – frequently this relationship needs the most healing.

Just imagine if everyone chose to dedicate this month as a time of reconciliation and healing. Broken families would be reunited in love, stressful work environments transformed into places of mutual support and respect, communities united to create harmony and opportunity for all. And self esteem would rise.

When we all come together, recognizing our true identities as beings of light and love, using our Divine power for the good of all, we will create a heaven on earth.

We CAN change the world through our thoughts, visions, and the power of love. I believe that all of this is possible through the spiritual force of love. Mohandas K. Gandhi said: Love is the strongest force the world possesses, and yet it is the humblest imaginable. Love is the grandest healing and drawing power on earth. I believe that our greatest gift is the power of love. And that YOU can create a life filled with joy, harmony, prosperity, and all good.

THE POWER OF LOVE HEALS MY LIFE.

The power of love heals us in many ways. In our daily prayer and meditation - and I do hope you are spending time EACH day in the spiritual practice of inspirational reading, prayer and meditation at the least. As I was saying, in our daily prayer and meditation the Consciousness or filter if you will, from which we are speaking and praying/affirming will determine quality of the demonstration in our life.

Will you try this experiment with me for 2 weeks - use it with a relationship with a difficult person or situation or yourself to increase self worth. We will do it now, so think of a relationship or situation you would like to heal. If a situation use an object to symbolize situation - finances $. If the relationship is your self, use the image of self -love filling every organ, cell and atom of your body.

*Sit with your eyes closed. *Take a moment to relax.

*The easiest way to relax is to become aware of the sensations you feel in your body. *Notice how your body feels touching the chair. *Take a few deep breaths. *Let yourself think about the relationship that you would like to transform now either yourself or another person. *Picture the person involved in this relationship in your mind's eye. Remember it does not matter if you can see an image. A thought is as powerful as an image. *Imagine them surrounded with light and love (you might see this as a pink blanket of light surrounding them, caressing them with love). *See the two of you interacting with one another in a way you would like. *Imagine both of you saying or doing something positive. *See the two of you smiling at one another. *Feel a positive emotion like joy as you watch this image. *Imagine yourself telling your best friend about how well this experiment worked. *See yourself joyfully celebrating the transformation of this relationship/situation. *Feel joy. *Let the image go.

Repeat every day for two weeks. If, throughout your day, you find yourself mentally rehearsing the conflict, remind yourself that love works and see the relationship in a positive way. Record your experiences with this exercise in a journal.

Work on other relationships you would like to change. Remember to see the person in your mind's eye or simply think about them. Surround them with love and light and see the two of you interacting in a positive way. See yourself telling friends about the success of this experiment. Feel the joy as you celebrate the power of love in your life. Work with as many relationships as you would like.

Do this exercise at least once a day. Two or three times a day will bring quicker results. You will get positive results, but you may need to continue to use the force of love if you want the changes to become permanent.

The Power of Love Heals my life.

The world economy and personal finances still seem to be a major issue for many people. Begin to use the filter of love in the area of your finances. If you have decided to be part of our Unexpected Income program for 2010 this is a great place to begin using the filter of love. We have already received many enrollments and checks reflecting the 10% tithe from unexpected income already received.

Use the filter of love in all of your activities and interaction with others. See through the eyes of love. One day year’s ago I placed a heart on my glasses and when asked about it, I said it is to remind me that I see through eyes of love. I shared that idea with our church one Sunday and had extra hearts to share. To remind you see through eyes of love - you might look for small heart stickers (nail decals work great and are the right size.) Just place one in the far corner of your glasses. It will probably invoke comments from friends and strangers.

If you are still having trouble seeing certain people or situations through love, a forgiveness process may help. Here is meditation you can use at home to elevate the pain around your heart. It is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation for giving and receiving called Tonglen. It is a graphic visualization exercise. You do it first for yourself - because Buddhists understand that unless we give something to ourselves first we have nothing to give anyone else. It is always important to take care of our self first. Then do it for loved ones, then for those with whom you might be in conflict. Continue to repeat the process further and further out. The true Buddhist method would be do it for all beings on 7 levels of creation.

First you visualize your own pain as smoke around your heart. Inhale that smoke/pain into the light within your own heart - when the smoke dissipates, as it must in the Light exhale your heart–light back to yourself. When you do this for others, breathing in their pain, and breath back to them your happiness, your love the wholeness of your own true nature.

Wonderful thing about this Tibetan image is that when we compassionately take on the pain of someone else, we don’t store it. It burns up, dissipates in our own heart, and leaves us with extra energy in the form of light, it illuminates us, even as we breath it back to them.

My wish for you this month is that you increase the flow of love in your hearts, your relationships, your creative endeavors, and your financial affairs. The way to begin is to share love and ultimately yourselves with others.

With deep love and appreciation for
your support of our work,

Dr. Hugh G. Carruthers

P.S. One of our members, a vocalist, actor and director sent me a copy of his newly released CD entitled "A Christmas Gift". It is incredible, and he is offering our Society a great gift by sending us 50% of each CD sold. What a Christmas gift! You can preview his recording at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dickpyatt. You may just want to buy one for yourself and a couple more for gifts.
